Provided that a person shall not be prohibited by virtue of regulations having effect by virtue of this subsection from driving motor cycles of any class or description if at any time before the coming into force of the regulations he has held a licence, other than a provisional licence, authorising him to drive that class or description of motor cycles or if at the time of the coming into force of the regulations he holds a provisional licence. If your parents are happy for you to book an advanced driving test, it might be helpful for them to give their consent on your behalf. If you don’t meet these requirements, you cannot book an advanced driving test at 16. It is up to you to determine whether you are fit enough to do so. There is no legal age limit at which you must stop driving. However, you simply need to renew it with the DVLA. When you reach the age of 70 your licence does expire. This includes if you cannot or do not want to attend because of coronavirus (COVID-19). (2) Regulations may provide that in relation to motor cycles or, if it is so prescribed by the regulations, in relation to motor cycles of a class or description so prescribed, the foregoing table shall have effect as if it specified such minimum age, not being less than sixteen years, as may be so prescribed: You can book an advanced driving test at 16 if you’re over the age of 17 and hold a full provisional licence.
